He Ara Kotahi Bridge

The name means a pathway that brings people together, and that's what it does.

The bridge design was inspired by a fallen karaka tree, with its roots on the southern side, its trunk across the river channel and its canopy across the city bank.

He Ara Kotahi project had been a breakthrough in providing people better access to the river, in appreciating the significant heritage sites along it's banks, and creating recreational opportunities.
